Charm & StrangeCharm and Strange By Stephanie Kuehn
Ebook
216 pages
St Martins Griffin

When you’ve been kept caged in the dark, it’s impossible to see the forest for the trees. It’s impossible to see anything, really. Not without bars . . .

Andrew Winston Winters is at war with himself.

He’s partWIN, the lonely teenager exiled to a remote Vermont boarding school in the wake of a family tragedy. The guy who shuts all his classmates out, no matter the cost. - Goodreads

------------------------------------------------

My Goodreads rating: 4.5 Stars

This book is so tragic for only 216 pages. This book was written so beautifully and Stephanie made  me go into our mian characters head to understand how he thinks. This book has alot of trigger warnings for suicide, sexual abuse and metal abuse. This book truly opened my eyes up too this very sad subjects and I was impacted with every page. This had me turning the page for more and just wanting to understand what was happening because Stephaine gives you clues throughout the book for you to piece together and most of your insitincts that you wish aren't true, becomes true.

Its dark, its sad and I think its worth a read.

This is just my mini review of this book as I have some reading too do. lol.

I am currently reading The Wrath of Dawn By Renee Ahdieh, so far so good. I plan on finishing it tonight. I will update this review more when I have complete the readaton.

Happy Reading Everyone

Slated By Teri Terry Book Review

Slated (Slated, #1)
Slated by Teri Terry
Paperback
448 pages
Orchard Boo

"Kyla’s memory has been erased,
her personality wiped blank,
her memories lost for ever.
She’s been Slated.
The government claims she was a terrorist and that they are giving her a second chance - as long as shePLAYS by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?" -Goodreads

----------------------------------

I had such high hopes for this book but I'm sorry Teri this book didn't win with me. I only gave this book 3.5 stars which is now borderline 3 stars. I read this because of the cover was gorgeous and it was my book challenge of the month of June. I however am going to read the next two books in the series in hopes of redeeming itself. So far, not so. :/

Here is why It went wrong with me:

Our main character Kayla was beyond annoying, and just a bland character. She seemed way to gullible and I wanted her to become this mega bad ass heroin, that I feel she can be, but didn't. She got herself into too many stupid predicaments and I just wanted her to be smart and on her wit about everything. Teri should of portrayed her the way she wanted too because felt like she had a restriction to Kayla.

I did like Ben as a character and also her mum. The whole back story of her mum was more interesting than the actual story. I feel like this story should have been about her mum as a teenage rather than this boring bland Kayla girl.

Teri had a good way of telling a story but the way she executed it didn't go to well. She had a lot of great ideas for the story and amazing imagination it was beyond me but it felt like she didn't know how to piece all together to flow into Kayla's story.

I  am excited to see how this series does end and but I feel this book series is not worth the read or money.

Now if Teri if you publish a book about Sandra now I would invest into that idea. (Meaning I will buy your  books again)

Let me talk about the politics in this book.

It was amazing, it was interesting and that is the reason why I wanted to read this series. The fact that people who commit a crime are slated to prevent them from doing acts of violence was so different and unique. The fact it was set in the year 2049 was weird but so imaginative. I loved this world.

Spoliers are below this point so please dont read any further if you have not read this book.

The reason why I love Sandra's backstory so much is because of how her parents were on opposite sides but they yet they still stayed together and dided together at the end. That was amaizng. I would love to see Teri go into futher depth into this story. Also I am excited to see what had happened to Sandra's son too, the one who "died" in the bus that blew up. I reckon he was slated. I betcha.

Thank you for reading this post.

If you have read please comment below and we can discuss it together.

My Sister Picked Me A Book To Read | Monthly TBR Challenge

So as I said in my previous blog post I was going to do any other challenge for this month as I missed out March and I already have completed this months book challenge of reading a LGBT Protagonist.

So you may already know my beautful little sister named Honey (pictured below with me)

She has chosen a book that has been sitting on my shelf for the last four years. :O

So I am so glad she has chosen if for me cause it is about time I did read it.

So let me give you some clues, cause I like to get people guessing.

It's a YA, fansaty novel with dragons in it, even though the title of the book is misleading as it suggests it maybe about something else.

Have you guessed yet?

*Drumroll*

Angelfire By Courtney Allison Moulton

Angelfire (Angelfire, #1)

Thnks to Honey for choosing this book for me and I may actually make this a usual occurrences on this blog.

If you think that is a good idea please comment below.

Gregs Monthly TBR Challenge

I dont think I have posted this challenge on my blog but at the beginning of this year I cleaned out my TBR jar and filled them with my own reading challenges.

This was created by Katytastic who does this ever month. Which is cool.

So here are my book challenges for this year.

(BTW the ones in italics are the one I have completed)

1: Read a book with a LGBT protagonist - More Than This By Patrick Ness (MAY)
2: Read a book off your shelf at random- The Curious Inicident of the Dog in the Nighttime By Mark Haddon (FEB)
3: Get your sister to pick a book for off goodreads
4: Read Number 69 on your goodreads to read list
5: Read a book that is a retelling - Cinder By Marissa Meyer (JAN)
6: Read from an author you have never heard of
7: READ A GODAMN COLEEN HOOVER BOOK GREG
8: Read a book about Fey
9: Read a book with sports in it Winger By Andrew Smith (APR)
10: Re Read Twilight
11: Read a book with no romance
12: Pick one author and try and complete all their published books in one month

As you can see I did not complete the challenge for March as I did not pick me one for that month. (Due to school work overload) So I have picked another one for this month since I have already completed it.

I will be doing number 3: where I will get my sister to pick a book for me. This is going to be interesting. ahaha

Thanks for reading this post.

Happy Reading Everybody. :D

#AYEARATHON RE-READ MONTH TBR

Aww man, I missed some awesome months like fantasy month.

I really wanted to try and catch up on the Throne of glass series but this month is Re-read month.

But wait, I did however read Throne of Glass before.

Hahaha, Yes I did.

So this month I am going to cheat a bit.

I'm gonna re read Throne of Glass but also try to catch up on the series too.

I gotta do what I gotta do.

I am so excited to be reading this series, as I loved the first book after reading it three years ago when it first came out, but I never continued on.

As this is one of the series I plan on completing this year, I feel as though it will be a great time for me to read them.

Btw I know I havn't read Crown of Midnight (Book 2), Heir of Fire (Book 3) and The Assassins Blade (Book 0.5) but I think my fellow #AYEARTHON buddies will be okay with that.
